“CAUTION: Japan's 2nd Nuclear power plant blast. Dear Malaysians, pls be mindful not to go in the rain these few days. Get an umbrella or raincoat.”

this afternoon i saw this status appeared on my facebook wall, i was shock because it could be a critical problem for the whole world if the nuclear plant in Japan explodes. I quickly visited to BCC website to check with the latest updates on Japan nuclear plant in order to certify the truthfulness of this breaking news.

then i saw this on BBC: Second blast at Fukushima nuclear plant

It was real, a second explosion has hit the nuclear plant in Japan which was damaged in Friday's earthquake. Then, i was thinking : "oh my goh~ it this gonna affect my country? how is the Japanese? Japan will be gone in the world?" In order to clear off my doubt, I did some searching on Google and these were my findings:

I got some news from the forum:

BBC News Flash Report: Japan government confirms radiation leak at Fukushima nuclear plants. Asian countries should take necessary precautions. Remain indoors first 24 hours. Close doors and windows. Swab neck skin with betadine where thyroid area is. Radiation hits thyroid first. It may hit Philippines starting at 4pm today. Let's all pray protection against radiation. Pls. Repost.

But the guy who posted this unable to provide any sources of this information. Quickly, Philippine Blogger criticized that this news was fake and it a false warning designed to spread unnecessary anxiety and confusion. It did provide some evidences and facts to prove that. Besides, Koichiro Genba, the national strategy minister, said at the plant, there is "absolutely no possibility of a Chernobyl". In addition, GE is offering help to Japan for at-risk reactor.

Thanks god~ our world is safe.

However, this inccident has raisen the issue of the safety of nuclear plant. It reopens nuclear debates in Europe and US

Alright, now we look at the massive damage that the earthquake and tsunami had brought to Japan.

watch this video: http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=208336239183834&comments

and this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-12709850

From the video, you can see that the tsunami just "saput" (sweep) all the things off including cars, ships and houses. I can't imagine what if a human was on the street that time, 99% he/she will be gone forever. You can see how small we are in the face of nature.

Also, see the differences between before and after earthquake and tsunami in Sendai, Japan at here, here, and here

In fact, Japan is the world's earthquake expert. This is due to Japan had taken too much hurts and pains from the earthquake. Japan lies in an area where several plates meet, it has experienced frequent earthquakes. Earthquakes are caused by the release of energy or seismic waves when these plates move. You can see the previous earthquakes in Japan

One of the biggest and critical earthquake was happenned in 1 September 1923, Japan faced the deadliest earthquake with magnitude 7.9 which occurred in the Kanto. Casualty estimates range from about 100,000 to 142,000 deaths, the latter figure including approximately 40,000 who went missing and were presumed dead.

If eathquake happens in Japan, the Japanese are able to cope with it. But, this time, earthquake caused the tsunami. earthquake + tsunami = the god of detroyer. This time, Japan really takes a hard pain from the disaster. So far, the death and missing are believed to hit 10000 and there are much people were missing.

In economic, Japan's stock falls significantly after the earthquake; the Nikkei 225 Stock Average fell 6.2 percent. The car giants, Toyota, Honda, Nissan all got affected economically by this accident. In 1990s, Japan had been facing "the lost 10 years" and Japanese government had borrowed plenty of money from the future to solve the crisis. During 2007-2008 global financial crisis, Japanese government borrowed money from the future again. It caused Japanese govermnet win the "merit" of the world's top debtor. Now, the earthquake and tsunami has brought japan to the bottow line. I wonder how long time Japan is gonna take to recover from the recession or crisis.

In politics, Japan's PM, Naoto Kan is questioned by the Japanese residents whether he can lead the country through the crisis. The Japanese residents is losing their faith towards Naoto Kan.

While all the people are busily helping the Japanese in their ways, some of the companies were criticized by the public by taking advantage of the inccident.

Newspaper publisher Berita Harian in Malaysia had published the cartoon in the Ragam column which depicts renowned Japanese TV superhero and pop culture icon Ultraman running away from a tsunami. Thia action was roundly criticised and condemned by Malaysians from all walks of life, including politicians. and soon, Berita Harian stepped out and apologized for this issue.

another case was happened in Singapore where Media Corp vice president sent out an email which was about asking people to subscribe to  Channel NewsAsia to track with the latest updates of Japan Earthquake. You can see the original email at here. It seems like the Media Corp is taking advantage of Japan earthquake by selling the ads to the advertisers. Of cause, this action was soon criticized by the public and the Media Corp stepped out to express their apology.
